Author of two books about his life,

he tells of the high points, low points

and other more forgettable

moments of his long and varied life.

“An astonishingly forthright biography from one of the last Thomas Coram foundlings.
Gordon’s life, a resounding success story, is a very good read indeed; the book is difficult to put down.”

WALKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

Gordon travels through life with unjustified optimism. He’s blissfully unaware of the physical limitations of being 81 years old. The decision to do a 300 mile walk along the South Coast of England against his doctor’s advice becomes a real test of his stamina and resolution.

He soon realises he has bitten off more than he can chew and resorts to a hilarious plan of deception. His companions include his youngest son Robin who organises the trip for Mr D, a multi-millionaire and his Chinese girlfriend.

He tells Babs, his long suffering wife, things never work out like you think.

ALL AT SEA

Gordon recalls his journey from the workhouse to the Foundling Hospital a charitable institution that cared for abandoned and destitute children. He shrugs off his connections with the charitable past which he feels are not always helpful.

He develops a love of boats and the sea but after running into a force 10 storm in 1987 when survival looked to be in doubt, the experience had a devastating effect upon him.
